If you find yourself with only Menu Chat (the button in the upper left of the screen) when you are used to having Text Chat there could be a few different reasons.
a) you've moved your chat window offscreen - this happens when you change screen resolutions. Solve it by changing your screen resolution to the highest you can handle on your computer. Your chat window should appear in a corner and you can reposition it back to the middle of the screen.
b) you've been muted. If you've been using inappropriate chat in the game, others have reported you and that report can result in a suspension of your chat privileges.
